Young Explorers

Your savings account will work much like an adult savings account, except that Young Explorers get to skip the usual fees and get right down to earning interest.

We’ll give you a passbook (ages 6 to 15) or a bank card (ages 16 to 17) which you’ll need for all deposits (money going in) and withdrawals (money you take out). The friendly Young Explorers representative who helped you open your account will be happy to give you tips on what to do when you visit the bank.

Each time you put money in a savings account, you allow the bank to temporarily borrow your money while you’re not using it. As a thank you, the bank puts extra money into your account, a percentage of the total amount you deposited. That’s why it’s so great to save – you can earn money just by putting money away!
